Three brilliant new food and drink venues to open in Elephant Park

One thing you’ll notice when you take a wander around Elephant & Castle or the wider area of Southwark is places to eat, drink, have a coffee, and just relax are in plentiful supply. And there’s about to be a few more, with the opening of three new venues in the Elephant Park area.

Four Hundred Rabbits, the south-London based restaurant chain renowned for its outstanding sourdough pizza, has opened its fifth pizza place in Elephant Park. Overlooking the newly-opened Elephant Springs, the restaurant offers its signature sourdough pizza menu along with monthly specials, craft beer and a new range of gelato and sorbet made in-house. It’s the perfect dining spot for catching up with friends or, given its parkside location, for picking up a takeaway and enjoying it alfresco.

“We’re really happy to be up and running here at Elephant Park,” says Duncan Edwards, Four Hundred Rabbits co-founder. “We are a proud South London brand and we already feel like part of the community here.”

Popular Latin American supermarket and social hub DistriAndina is to open a new 2100 sq ft unit on Elephant Park’s Ash Avenue. A favourite local spot for years in its home under the railway arches of Elephant & Castle station, the store will sell a large selection of grocery items and snacks imported from across Latin America. As one of the main social hubs for the local Latin American population, it’ll continue to operate as a bar and restaurant, serving authentic delicious South American street food too, with freshly made arepas, empanadas, and lots more.

Luis Betancourt, store manager of DistriAndina, says “Elephant & Castle is our home, so we are very happy to be part of this new community at Elephant Park. Latin American food is increasingly popular in the UK, but still people don’t know all it has to offer – we look forward to educating our new audience through delicious food.”

Elephant Park will also soon become home to new pub and restaurant, The Rosy Hue. The large, dog friendly pub is being opened by south London pub group Livelyhood, and will serve tasty food and drink with a focus on using local suppliers and produce.

Sarah Wall, Livelyhood’s owner, says “We look forward to… working in partnership with suppliers in the area… to create a neighbourhood pub to be enjoyed by both local residents and visitors.” The pub will also have a large dedicated area for sports with big screens, as well as a heated outdoor terrace boasting great views across Elephant Park. 

With the opening of these new Southwark places to eat and drink, adding to the huge variety of cuisine available in the area, Elephant Park is truly cementing itself as a destination for the London food crowds.
