Inspired by F Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece, this musical is still running its final performances in January. Join infamous characters like Daisy Buchanan, Nick Carraway and Woolfe as they explore exactly what happened on that fateful day in 1922.
The performance by the Ruby in the Dust theatre company comes after a successful virtual performance of the music at Cadogen Hall in 2021. The newly staged, choreographed, and costumed performance is now set to dazzle audiences once again.
Recommended for ages 12+. Ticket prices are £22 for an adult and £18 for a concession.
12th January – 5th February 2022
Presented by Southwark Playhouse itself, this timeless tale is now being told to the backdrop and music of the 80s. Using the contentious times of Thatcher’s Brixton, two people find love in amongst community conflicts. It’s the story we know and love, with a bit of a twist.
Teased on the Southwark Playhouse website as featuring, ‘some of the greatest sounds this country has ever created’, we think it’s safe to say that it’s Shakespeare but not as we know it.
These events are also going to be part of the Shakespeare for Schools project, which will bring over 2,000 local school children to the theatre for free, at certain matinee performances.

14th January – 19th February 2022
Based on a true story from the times of World War II, this musical pokes fun at the face and formalities of The British Army during an operation to take down Hitler. It’s all in good fun though, as ultimately the good old Allied Forces prevail. This performance run is the third in the last three years, after the first run swept up awards like Best Composer/Lyricist and Best off-West End Company Ensemble.
It’s the brainchild of fringe favourites Kill the Beast and composer Felix Hagan, who have labelled their new theatre company SpitLip. People are crying out for it to become a new West End favourite, so why not buy your ticket now?
Suitable for 6 years+. Tickets cost £27.50 and concessions are £22 each.
Don’t forget that the Southwark Playhouse has a bar which is open every day there’s a live performance. Even if you’re in the area looking for a light bite and a drink or two, it’s an excellent option.
