The month of May marks National Cocktail Week. So, to celebrate, we’ve pulled together a list of the best bars and hotspots for cocktails in Elephant and Castle.
Two entries rolled into one, Louie Louie and Little Louie are sibling bars nestled in the heart of Elephant & Castle with the littler sibling based right here at the heart of Elephant Park.
The cocktail list at Louie Louie can only be described as hip and artisan. The witty titles of each (see Electric Gondola and La Tea En Rose) give you a giggle while you peruse the options by ingredients and flavours. If you like live music, this is also a place to catch DJs and HiFi of an evening.
The interiors (and exteriors) of both are casual but sophisticated. Little Louie is actually part of Elephant Stores, a unique space which features the best of independent retail and dining. What’s more, you’ll find there’s a happy hour at Little Louie with 2 for 1 cocktails from 6pm – 7pm, Wednesday to Saturday.
We never get fed up with including Mercato into our food and drinks pieces, because – quite frankly – the selection is just so large and they do it so well.
Open until 11pm most evenings, this casual environment caters for all tastes – and that’s including cocktails.
Whilst you’ll find that many of the food traders include beverages on their menus, tailored to their genre of cuisine, Ethika is a dedicated cocktail bar with a sustainable conscience. Make yourself thirsty by viewing the cocktails for yourself.
You also need to pay a visit to the French Corner, which is an area within Mercato, as opposed to a specific trader. Within the al fresco space you’ll be treated to the “French joie de vivre” with live music, cocktails, beers, fine wine, live music and old-fashion hospitality! A fine venue for enjoying cocktails in Elephant and Castle!
Based right here at Elephant Park, Four Quarters is the perfect place for cocktails in Elephant and Castle if you’re not good at sitting still…
An arcade bar filled with retro games and serving up quality food and drink, you can book private gaming space or just have an oh-so amusing night with friends.
The cocktails on offer are (surprise, surprise) game themed! For Summer, we’re advocating Donkey Kong’s Tropical Punch, a fruity, rum-based cocktail or the Gi-onic Boom! A gin and elderflower base with cucumber and lime – incredibly refreshing after you’ve broken a sweat with some hard gaming!
For the students amongst us, Four Quarters’ student night is every Wednesday – enjoy discounts on drinks and cocktails all evening, plus 10% off food. All you need is your student ID.
An entry that’s not quite in Elephant and Castle but is a great option for those in search of a rooftop bar – and it’s only a 15-minute walk, or 7 minutes by tube.
If you’re a bit of a classicist when it comes to cocktail, this is your place. The menu is well curated but includes the usual culprits, albeit expertly crafted. Expect slings, Collinses, spritzes and martinis and be sure to ask for the ever-changing seasonal cocktail menu which provides a few more unusual options!
As mentioned, this rooftop space is al fresco but covered in part so dress for the weather. And keep your eye on the website before you visit, as Bar Elba usually offers you a free cocktail if you sign up to their mailing list.
Found on Ash Avenue, Four Hundred Rabbits are experts in fermentation. Although their specialities are sourdough pizzas and craft beers, don’t turn your nose up at their fantastic cocktails. Between 5 and 7pm every day, cocktails are just £5 – what a bargain!
Classic cocktails are on the menu at Four Hundred Rabbits, so pay them a visit and sip on a spritz. The only question is, Campari or Aperol?
Looking for a good spot for happy hour? Look no further than Bobo Social! From 3pm – 6pm every Monday to Friday, you can enjoy two cocktails for just £10. Perfect for lunchtime drinks on a day off, or a refreshing cocktail after work!
So, there you have it! Our top spots for cocktails in Elephant and Castle, from student nights to rooftop bars. Cheers!
