Fast becoming one of the city’s best areas to dine out, you’ll never be short of options for a great breakfast in Elephant and Castle. Whether you’re looking for a fry up, freshly roasted coffee, light pastries, or the best eggs in the country, you can find it all at Elephant Park. Here’s a short selection of just some of our local favourites.
With the tagline ‘Born in Brazil, Made in London’ Tupi brings a modern European menu with a South American twist to Elephant & Castle. They have a full breakfast and brunch menu with pancakes, fry ups (for both carnivores and herbivores), and all the kinds of eggs you could ever need. Or if you’re looking for something lighter to start the day, they serve an array of healthy juices and smoothies, made fresh and ready to enjoy on the outdoor terrace.
With its own roastery, Elephant and Castle’s branch of Hej Coffee is a haven for coffee lovers. But it’s not just the coffee that’s got everyone in Elephant Park talking. Giving avocado toast a glow-up, try their signature avocado bap – avocado, fresh mozzarella and tomato with pesto-mayonnaise on seeded bread. Get it toasted to melt that mozzarella. Looking for something lighter? Their incredible cinnamon buns will do the trick. The café is bright and airy inside, or you can set yourself down out on the outdoor terrace and watch the world go by.
Well known for its speciality peanut butter burger, Bobo Social has become an Elephant Park institution since it opened. But don’t forget that it has a banging breakfast and brunch menu as well. Whether you’re a meat-eater, vegetarian or vegan, The Full Bobo is a big breakfast that will set you up for the day.
Although famous for its delicious artisanal gelato and Italian desserts, Badiani at the Mercato Metropolitano also serve fantastic gourmet crepes in a variety of toppings, alongside the finest Italian speciality coffee to take away. Pull up a seat inside the Mercato Metropolitano deli (MMy) and enjoy the buzz, or take a short walk around Elephant Park to enjoy an alfresco breakfast at the brand new Elephant Springs. With benches surrounded by greenery and water features, it’s the perfect outdoor dining spot to spend a morning.
In the mood for something different? This Castle Square takeaway serves up the best of Latin America with an array of arepas and empenadas on offer. Each morning, Coma y Beba bake fresh pandebono and almojabanas, two types of Colombian cheese bread, which are traditionally eaten for breakfast, warm from the oven. Combine with some freshly brewed Colombian coffee and take a seat in Castle Square’s outdoor dining area – the perfect light breakfast. Elephant and Castle tube station is just minutes away, so it’s also the ideal place to meet friends for a catch up over a bite.
