Hej Coffee

Rodney Road, SE17 1BA

Elephant Park’s very own Hej outpost is one of the area’s most popular coffee spots. Home to the Hej Roastery this stylish little spot in the heart of Elephant & Castle serves up speciality roasts, all sourced from certified suppliers or straight from the farms.

The defining difference with Hej Coffee in Elephant & Castle is that the coffee is roasted right here in London. This means you’re getting one of the freshest cups of coffee in the city – and it really does make a difference to the taste. Knowledgeable baristas can tell you more about the micro-blends and small batch roasts, even tailoring it to your personal tastes.

As well as the coffee, during the day you can enjoy pastries, smoothies, toasties, salads, and cakes. In the evening, the coffee is accompanied by craft beers, wine, and a perfectly curated food menu.

Dog friendly, wheelchair accessible, with outdoor seating and free Wi-Fi for those working.

Hana Coffee

19 Sayer Street, SE17 1FY

The perfect coffee spot to visit if you’re on the go, this coffee ‘cart’ packs a powerful punch. Located next to Elephant Park’s very own Wildflower Meadow (which is a glorious place to sit and sip in summer), Hana Coffee serves up hot beverages, iced coffees, smoothies, pastries, cakes, and more.

There’s a little outdoor seating there too, so you can always take a few minutes to sit back and enjoy. It’s also open from 6am, so it’s a great option for the early birds.

Look out for the bright teal and timber façade on Sayer Street and you’re there.

Change Please

131 Walworth Road, SE17 1RW

Coffee in Elephant and Castle - with a conscience. Most Londoners know the story of Change Please, a coffee shop-cum-social enterprise where every cup sold makes a difference to someone in the local area.

But, in case you don’t, it’s important to know that 100% of Change Please profits go to helping homelessness in London. They tackle the crisis by using the business (and the profits) to give people experiencing homelessness training, housing, a living wage job, and ongoing support.

In store, you’ll find a small food menu, free Wi-Fi, and power sockets - and the coffee tastes great. Even better when you know it’s doing a whole lot of good.

Badiani @ Mercato

Mercato Metropolitano, 42 Newington Causeway, SE1 6DR

Better known for their Italian gelato and sweet treats, you get a truly excellent cup of coffee at Badiani’s in Mercato.

Beginning in 1932 in Florence, Italy, the family’s known for their exceptional tastes in desserts. And that’s one of the best things about this place – if you like a sweet accompaniment with your coffee, there really is too, too much to choose from.
